The presentation of 2000 cranes was made on the occasion of Pope John Paul's
visit to Israel in 2000. He was given the garland
by Miri Golan (left of centre) and by
a small deputation of Christian, Moslem and Jewish children, at Ben Gurion
International Airport near Tel Aviv, shortly before his departure.
Visibly touched by his
parting gift, the Pope graciously blessed all the children.
